The American International Toy Fair is one of the oldest, ongoing trade shows/expositions in the United States. It is also billed as the largest toy trade show in the Western Hemisphere. The show began in 1903 and debuts thousands of toys each year. The toy fair is based at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, New York, and it spreads into a number of individual showrooms throughout the city. The International Toy Fair is open only to toy industry businesses and professionals. It is not open to the public and no one under 18 will be admitted. Attendance usually tops over 1,200 manufacturers, distributors and importers from over 100 countries. 5,000 retailers attend the show yearly.
