Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world, is a cultural mecca boasting more than 300 museums, and is a paradise flooded with good weather.  It is the 2nd most populated city in the United States with a population of nearly 3.9 million.  Based on population alone, if the Los Angeles urban areas were a state, it would be the fifth largest in the nation behind only California, New York, Texas, and Florida.  Los Angeles is also one of only two U.S. cities without a majority population.  People from 140 countries, speaking approximately 86 different languages, currently call Los Angeles home.

The city itself has many thought provoking accolades.  Los Angeles is the only city in North America to have hosted the Summer Olympics twice, Downtown L.A. is the largest government center outside of Washington D.C., and it has the largest number of women-owned businesses in the nation.  Tourism and hospitality employs close to 372,000 people, representing nearly 1 out of every 10 jobs in Los Angeles County.  LA Country, with more than 87,000 jobs in the fashion industry, has surpassed New York’s fashion district workforce.  However, Los Angeles is most well-known for its film and entertainment industry.  The motion picture and entertainment industry in LA Country generates approximately $48 billion annually in direct sales.
